Observing the painting style of her husband, Kerry Kinman, Kerry began teaching her as he had learned from his mother, painter Florence Sackett. That got Linda Lee started. Soon both Kerry and Linda Lee were asked to teach classes in Oregon where they live. In 1983, Linda Lee was accepted by a gallery in Sedona, Arizona. During this time, she perfected her technique. "We've grown and developed together, " Kerry says.

At first, I was too tight and Linda was too loose. Now we've come together. As for their work, which looks remarkably similar, Kerry and Linda Lee both paint desert and floral scenes, using the same techniques and often critiquing each other.

A unique aspect of Linda Lee's work is that she does not paint with brushes. She paints with knives, similar to palette knives, yet the images are delicate and detailed. Linda Lee and her husband, Kerry, spend their spring in Arizona and Southern California, working out of a large motor home, carefully timing their arrival to match the desert's output of flowers. From their traveling studio, the couple paints, researches the flora and photographs scenes to take back to their studio for use during the rest of the year.
