Beautiful Vintage or Antique Silk Rug Description and Item Information Up for sale is this beautiful, old Middle Eastern silk rug or carpet. Please excuse any glare in the photos. This colorful rug has a lovely sheen.

The intricate patterns include flowers, foliage, animals (deer), and other themes. This rectangular rug has fringe on two edges. Including the fringe this rug measures approximately 88 inches by 59 1/2 inches. Unpacked, it weighs 15 pound 10.0 ounces. This would be a lovely addition to a traditional home decor.

Identification As shown in Photo 15, there are some markings near the edge on the back side which may provide information about the exact origin of the rug. The rug is vintage or possibly antique, but the exact age is not known. Condition The rug looks very good overall, with minor wear from use, as shown. There are minor areas of wear where the foundation threads show (please see example area in Photo 10).

Some of the knots on the fringe areas have come untied; examples are shown in Photo 9. There is some soiling/staining to the fringe and to the white border near the fringe; examples are shown in Photos 4 and 10. The color tonality is not uniform; there are lighter and darker areas to the multicolored portions of the rug. The reason for this is unknown, but perhaps this is due to soiling or fading.

There are some loose threads and minor fraying at the side edges. The rug has not been cleaned, and it is dusty but it has no foul odors. There is a small white area on the back side, as shown in Photo 14.
