Up for sale is what looks like a very nice and unique belt buckle. It is made of brass with CALIFORNIA set in CHP (California Highway Patrol) blue enamel on the front side. It measures approximately 3 1/8" wide x 1 5/8" high.
The width of belt opening is 1 5/16. The buckle came from a collector of old police and military surplus items from the late 1800s - 1940s.
I have owned it since 1987. The enamel is 95% there with a small void at the bottom of the F visible in the photo. The brass is almost copper colored because of the oxidation. The buckle may be missing a part to keep it secure but it is being offered as pictured.
